tis the season to be a spendin...la la la la la la la la

i don't know if its because its the festive season but i've been looking at a few shopping websites and i got to say i'm loving American Apparel & Lazy Oaf, both which are located in Carnaby St! droolage for the time and effort they made theses truly 'dashing' selection of clothes and stuff!

heres a few what i want,RIGHT NOW...i wonder if the bf will be generous this year

truly scrumptious....

or and then Lazy Oaf held me to droolage by letting me see theses little gems:

click...ah snap*!

all sweet like candy and ice cream

rain fallin down my blimmin ead

a taste of the apple and i bite

but then i saw this and i thought i got to have it, especially if i wanted to get whats left of my creative streak.Plimpsolls has a new meaning,i rename them 'PIMPSOLES'

oH and theres this other exhibition on,as i received my daily suscription of UJ. It's called alterNATIVITY,an array collection of street artists showing off a display of their new pieces.

its just one of thoses fly by days...

yup,i have been lacking on updates but after with all the fiasco, everything seems like a calm soothing breeze..ok so i've been busy with my dude..sue me!lol.

well ok theres not much to report but a few.i realised nowadays Islington is the up and coming place to be.maybe it would make a good investment to live round there..i'll ask the master¬lol.talking of which..i've officially made myself a member of Barrio North, which is a newly open bar just off Essex Rd in Angel.

it seems to have that vibe, the sort of chill out music along the lines of latino vibes and beats, and affordable food and drinks, and to add NON-ALCOHOLIC,just the way i like it!oh and the walls are full of graffiti with the opportunity of artist to do their own thing.Lastly,La Caravena..need i say more.this visit is sooo needed!

ok,forgot to mention..i somehow got abit starstruck..well ok to anyone they probably wouldn't give two shits but i sorta had a encounter with a graffiti artist,of whom i actually seen one of his pieces down Old Street. He goes by the name of Blam.i met him when i went to the Shelf Life exhibition 2 weeks ago.

isn't that cookie monster?i can't remember, the sesame street days seem long ago!

Santa's Ghetto:2007!its that time of year again, where a collab of the best street artists exhibit their recent pieces for the world to see and spectate.bloody heck,as usual,Banksy isn't gonna give away the location till the very night!6 days..

Lastly,i would solely just go to Bristol just so i can attend this event called 12 days of xmas!it features 40 of the world’s most loved & loathed contemporary urban artists starting on the 7th December.a day before the Secrets Wars/Don't Sleep Tour semi finals comes to London..

oh oh and check this, one of my favourite street artist Copyright has just released a brand new canvas, for £75..that would be so affordable and in range but shame £75 cannot be spent on a beauty like that!

man so much to go and see..art is too chaotic!

Saturday 17 November 2007

ey ey ey..we headed east way

crash bang wallop.what a terrible ending to a top night.like i really enjoyed everything but just one little thing had to destroy that!

Battlejam was hectic..if you're into beatboxing,mc's and scratchin then it would had been such a big commotion coz everyone all stopped and stared.

firstly,i spotted a few graff pieces here and there, both from Eine...

theses were close enough to Cargo where BattleJam taken place..Beardyman and JFB (beatbox championship and the dj scratching champion)were leading the event.it was too too good.the fact they interacted with the crowd and got the ball rolling!

theses were a few of the pics from the night ----> lookie

i would grab some of the vid clips but with the amount of space i have in my shacked up laptop,it won't do any justice.oh and my camera decides to scramble up on me afta it gets drenched.my god.hopefully the manufacturer's warrenty will cover it.i am in so much debt as it is.i can't take this no more!

HACKNEY,i really hate you right now.the story is simple.parked car in single yellow at a very reserved street..enjoyed the event with my buds..come back,i go in hysterics to find out its been towed away!argh..i need to release this aggrevation and i got just the thing to do so.

the arty circle....cutey buzyness

Shelf Life by HiCalorie and Sichi [Lefty opening night]

The night went tremendously well.whilst waiting for Mich,i was wondering round Brick Lane to see any new graff that may have been done.i swear im getting into the whole urban/street art scene alot.i can't seem to think of anything but graffiti or vinyl toys or anything thats art related.i have no clue how this art enthusiast streak in me started. if only a few years ago it was active whilst i was a "once before" illustrator.

So i did get to see Alex (HiCalorie) and Matt (Lunartik) in the end.i couldn't have this chance wasted before i left the gallery.Alex actually noticed me first and didnt realise who he was coz he did indeed look different in his fotos.saw the custom made Leftys done from a number of urban artist including Alex's and Matt's,along with few including Jeremyville, Julie west, Jeremiah Ketner, DGPH, Mike Burnett, Mr Jago etc. Also there were a few other people from the art world there,no matter where i went, there was someone who was from the industry so kept in touch and they gave me their business cards.

more fotos of the night can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=68400&l=ee63c&id=773980252

i was glad to notice Matt Jones and he was such a decent dude.even Alex said that Gavin Strange knew of my existance.i guess being a enthusiast does have its advantages. I decided to buy the HiCalorie original Lefty.eventually i also got it signed and ALSO customised by the man himself. Tahir came down as well so it was good to see him.He gave me the pink Cardboy sneaker that i wanted...it was so nice of him.what a good night it was.Mich also gave me a late birthday gift which i wasnt really expecting, She ended up giving me the London Street Art illustrator book.

so then i got home and realised my vinyl toy collection is slowly growing....

Pink Cardboy Sneaker Series 1

All marked up and customised personally from Alex aka HiCalorie

Proud owner of my very own Lefty!yay!!!

a hustle bustle of a week it will be

after the celebration of my 24th,everything is settled down normally.well so much to look forward to,im pretty excited about this week, here's why:

- i get to meet 3 of my favourite new graff/illustrator artist tomorrow in the Shelf Life/DIY Calamari opening. thinking whether i should just purchase the normal Lefty or one of the custom made ones from JamFactory,Lunartik or HiCalorie. i guess i gotta see which one tickles my fancy the most. i pretty much looking forward to this and hopefully capture a foto or 2 with all of them. Tahir should be making an appearance to, seeing as i didn't get the opportunity to in the Obey exhibition, which i still haven't been to yet

talking of which i may go to the Obey/Seen exhibitions this week before they end in the very end of the month.i have been meaning to go but theres always some disruptions.

- Theres a new exhibition happening down Lazarides Gallery [16 November – 29 November 2007] with some dude called Zevs. The sort of art that will be up are Liquidated Logos which are a series of screenprints of famous logos.looks interesting but is it anything different?

"apparently this French street artist Zevs was an early and influential graffiti artist and is among the prominent figures who pioneered the French street art scene"

- friday, battlejam is commencing.still wondering whether i will attend this or not.might be good.i guess it will be good esp with the beatboxing.Cargo seems to be a good spot and a big part of the hip hop underground london scene.

and lastly in the weekend, the Kulture2Couture event has arrived.this will be the first time i actually went into a fashion show.all theses up and coming designers making it big.should be a good experience.

life at 24 seems to be treatin me fair so far!

Thursday 8 November 2007

not even a relevant post but i turned 24,thats all to report..

Tuesday 6 November 2007

coundown to the 24!im feeling merrily festive!

oh my!i wouldn't think it come to this,in my mid 20's!i mean i should be doing something middle agey like managing my finanes, buying a mortgage..but hell no,im still the student, broke as ever....spending like i should!

oh its my 24th on thursday.i rarely cannot wait!

so i couldn't really wait,im sorta impatient like that.i had to open the package that Lunartik made for me.and what a surprise i did get.i loved it.all signed, officialised and all mine.heres what he gave me.

he deserves a well round hug when i see him in the Shelf Life Exhibition!

Monday 29 October 2007

it's a beautiful mornin,oh what a wonderful day?

im still blerry eyed since waking up 45 minutes ago!clocks went back yesterday so now it gets all prodominently darker!jeez..wait thats a good thing but not the bit where we're our very own snowman!

ok so i was stupid yesterday to go spend £60 worth on shoes, accessories, make up and a top.i'm doing again!anyways enough about my ramblings on my excessive spendings.one more week till reading week [it sorta a half term for us uni losers!].

i've got an idea what i wanna be doing, apart from the essay i have to do!..in the next few weeks or so,theres going to be the Obey exhibition held in Stolenspace, which starts this friday in fact.2 visits in the same gallery!there's Throwdown next thursday (my birthday), BattleJam on 16th November and Kulture2Couture on 17th in the V&A,so i'm pretty much busy from this point on.

oh my god,and what have i been up to all this weekend?well i have discovered more and more graff/illustrating artist in and around the net!another one to add to your collection is Killygrind. i find french artist have a certain "je ne se quai" about them.

HiCalorie have a new Glow in the Dark Octopi Lefty vinyl toy coming out on the 15th Nov available signed,in the adFunture Guerilla Store which is below where the Bodhi Gallery is situated! i have to get my hands on em!way too cute!

Saturday 27 October 2007

oh yes...wait a minute mr postman!

wohoo!now thats what i call express delivery.my lunartik piece of hunk-a-junk (which clearly isn't what it is) has arrived.

although i'm not going to reveal whats inside till my birthday comes.come on 8th november!i sense this will be my best birthday to date!still waiting for Jawa's.

just realised when i went to ArtoftheState's blog, that i taken another "Obey" piece, which they put up on the same night i went to the exhibition last monday, not the best shot but what can ya do?it was nightime, cricks!

so today i woke up and realised my dream had a whole french element to it.i thought where the fuck has this come from?why was i thinking paris?don't get me wrong.i love paris and one would love to endure the whole culture.maybe on my way i will be able to spot a few of Fafi's work out and about if i'm lucky.i'd love to purchase her up 2 date [est.2004 =P]illustration book

i watched Stardust with bf yesterday.it had such a nice fairy tale likeness to it.the characters.the fantasy.the effects.loved it.it's a must see.im starting to get into the whole fantasy film thing.

Go check out this argentine street artist: PumPum..//. her work looks decent!

Thursday 25 October 2007

urban art collector extrodinaireo!

o my frikkin gosh!

i'm the happiest ditz today.i got not only Jawa to send me a birthday gift but also "from scratch" a Lunartik original piece made for me personally!apparently it will be similar to the "Free the Beast" piece that i looked at before.woop bloody woop!!

talking of which.i saw the Bart Terminator [B-800 Custom] Qee he did which was displayed in Forbidden Planet along with other Barts.

i've made such a hobby of it,i think i'm gonna be an art collector!

Wednesday 24 October 2007

overshadowment and total insanity

what the crappers??

i couldn't help but be in the upmost hysteria whilst looking upon this article from Clutter Mag blog

http://cluttermagazine.blogspot.com/2007/04/man-forced-to-marry-goat.html

i mean seriously, how inhumane can one get?we take on the surreal and laugh but when it becomes a serious matter then we crap our pants.

later on...i should be converted to the Queen of Egypt.oh what a life long dream for me!
--------------
so i've been informed (by the help of Tahir://owner of the site UrbanRetro) that theres another exhibition going on in the Stolenspace studio, with the artist Obey, good grief.all theses constant art visits gonna drive me insane!i sub-consciously didn't know i took a snap of one of his pieces when i was down Brick Lane.lookie:

neat huh?well im looking at some of his other pieces and it does look quite amusing.i swear nowadays i got a thing to snap whatever different artists i can spot in and around the lovely city i live in.

ok so after a constant worry or too, mind u i haven't the case of alopia yet..i finally bought 2 dresses.for a good ol £37.80 on both! 1. the halloween costume (the portrayal of the most gracious queen of the Nile) and 2. my trademark little purple dress that i will fashion on my milestone being the magical 24(as oppose to the LBD which is a "must-have" for every girls wardrobe) both from some chain called Rare Fashion[pictures will be on display on the occasions i plan to wear them in!]i go for the latter and want to represent all thoses who support the colour purple.why purple???well why not?

its mysterious.it represents royalty.represents nobility and spirituality.and oh....by golly,what a coincidence,cleopatra even loved it!(i am not making this up!)

so i then made a pitstop to Carnaby Street and upon looking at the window, i saw a TokyoPlastic creation i.e.

Giant Geisha Octopus by TokyoPlastic

but also i spotted a Fafi piece...both £45.are they really worth that much?

and to end.as of this second,i was browsing and came across another graff artist goes by the name of Copyright.

Tuesday 23 October 2007

don't ya think it makes you wanna go old skool...?

i was casually browsing online, trying to find out an extra bit on the artist that were exhibited yesterday.so i went thru one by one..i typed in "HiCalorie" and here i came across a pair of pimp ass adidas'.i heart my adidas!

Adidas Originals 'Boy-Girl' Decade Hi

fair enough, there a limited collectable and for a phat £130,is it worth it?i want em,i crave for em.i want them officially signed!

talking of official signage?i began having a one on one msg with Nils aka Jawa( another Sneaky Critters artist!) on my facebook asking to give me an official certified piece of his artwork along with a little personal msg to me.just as well my birthday comes early =)!jokess....i swear down i need to tell him its my milestone of 24 in 16 days!

which brings me to my next subject.whilst seeing David Shrigley's bonafide talk last week in Curzon Cinema,i cheekily asked him to draw a quick but similar characature of me!so he drew me and i guess i was expecting way too much but fuk it,he did a character,a Shrigley original!sign by him 2!now i just need to get JonT to send over the evidence (with the Shrig behind me posing with the poster!)

in other news: i cannot believe the character on the Mark Ronson "Oh my God" music video featuring my fave artist Lily Allen as a inpretatation of a Jessica Rabbit-que was created by my favourite graff artist Fafi (la bella!!!!).collaborating Lily and Fafi, who would had thought it would be possible?Go watch!

another sad blogger...again i create

i tell myself i'm back again, creating a brand new blog.the amount i have are endless.apart from rambling on about my love life in my other blogspot page,i thought to do up a new one but more on the whereabouts and the hotspots i have stepped across in London (and possibly outside/abroad when the time comes).so this is more like a where have i been, what i've purchased recently, where the best funky places i have visited or i suggest to go whether its in a gallery or a place to be seen (but also i have added some personal context just so i can get a feel that this is about me!).my inspiration to start this was my visit to Brick Lane.

me and the bf visited the Bodhi Gallery down Brick Lane. The event? Sneaky Critters..(and FakePlasticLove) Exhibitions.

This link provides a review of yesterday's event (taken from my fave up2date blogsite: http://www.urbanretrolifestyle.com/2007/10/22/seen-sneaky-critters-show-at-bodhi-gallery/

i love observing other artists work!the rest of the pics can be seen in my facebook.Brick Lane is full of innovative art. From someone drawing in ink a beetle on a wall to sticking a knife as a handle.how much genius can u get?

next stop...StolenSpace.whos to be seen?Seen!!LOL

me and the b/f...on the way home.hand in hand.intertwined.locking hands.in love?
